The work “You will see me cry” and deals with showing emotions in public, specifically crying.
It was done during the my Erasmus in at the Linking Bodies - Jewellery Department of the Gerrit Rietveld Academie.
Certain stigmata on showing emotions are still present in our society. By creating transparent wearables that hold water dissolving fabric, the objects reveal the wearers emotion by adhering to their face. The lasercutted glasses made of plexiglass come in five different shapes, loosely based on the way tears flow down on peoples faces.
Shot with an Nintendo 3Ds, an object filled with childhood nostalgia, the images let viewers into a low resolution world of people using the glasses in public. Suggesting a world where crying is common, and feeling emotions in public is not a taboo.
